Nominees at the World Ski Awards, the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the ski hospitality industry, have been revealed as voting opens ahead of the 2014 Gala Ceremony.

The 2nd Annual World Ski Awards will take place from November 21st-23rd at A-ROSA Kitzbühel, overlooking the legendary Hahnenkamm.

The announcement follows the phenomenal success of last year’s inaugural event, which was attended by ski tourism VIP’s from across the world.

As well as accolades for the best products from the world’s leading ski tourism nations, awards for the ‘World’s Best Ski Resort’, ‘World’s Best Ski Hotel’, ‘World’s Best Ski Chalet’, and ‘World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel’ will be presented on the evening of November 22nd.

Sion Rapson, Managing Director, World Ski Awards, said: “In 2013 were made the decision to launch World Ski Awards in reaction to overwhelming demand from the ski industry for a programme that was fair and transparent.

“Our decision was richly rewarded in November last year, when industry leaders from around the world joined us at A-ROSA Kitzbühel for our inaugural event. As we begin our 2014 search we feel we have created a programme with a mission to serve as the definitive benchmark of excellence, and to help to foster a new era of growth in ski tourism.”

New to the 2014 programme will be awards for ‘World’s Best Ski Tour Operator’, ‘World’s Best Ski Travel Agent’, ‘World’s Best Ski Resort Company’, ‘World Best New Ski Hotel’ and ‘World’s Best New Ski Chalet’. 

Spain will also enter the pantheon of the top 21 ski nations to be honoured.

The 2014 World Ski Awards will be a three day programme of unrivalled networking events, dinners, and exclusive ski experience activities.

The highlight event will be the red carpet World Ski Awards Gala Ceremony itself on the evening of November 22nd. Ski tourism figureheads and market leaders from North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia will be in attendance as the 2014 World Ski Awards winners are unveiled.

World Ski Awards is the sister organisation of World Travel Awards.

About World Ski Awards

Launched in 2013, World Ski Awards aim is to drive up standards within the ski industry by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in their field.
Votes are cast by professionals working within the ski industry – senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media - and by the public (ski tourism consumers). 
Votes are submitted online at World Ski Awards website.

Last year's inaugural World Ski Awards, attended by ski industry heavyweights from the 20 leading ski nations, saw the title of World’s Best Ski Resort go to Val Thorens (France), while Bighorn, Revelstoke (Canada) took World’s Best Ski Chalet, Aurelio Lech (Austria) won World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel and World’s Best Ski Hotel went to The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch (USA).

In a special presentation at the end of the evening, the WSA Academy presented the accolade for Outstanding Services to Ski Tourism to Dr. Josef Burger, Chief Executive of Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel.

The 2014 Winners will be announced at the World Ski Awards Ceremony, taking place at the A-ROSA Kitzbühel, Austria on November 22nd 2014 as part of a three-day programme of VIP events and activities.

World Ski Awards is the sister organisation of World Travel Awards, currently celebrating its 21st anniversary.
