The Windsors are passionate skiers. Snapshots of the royal family zipping down slopes around the world offered some of the happiest images we have of Prince Charles, Diana and their boys. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are avid skiers, but we’ve yet to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do the same.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are avid skiers, but we’ve yet to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do the same.

The couple’s recent move to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with their baby son Archie might change this; a little more free time on their hands and proximity to some of the world’s best ski resorts could mean that Harry and Meghan Markle will now spend snowy Canadian winter days speeding down the slopes.

Here’s a look at five Canadian ski resorts where you might run into the royal couple.

Mount Washington

Located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Mount Washington is pretty much in the couple’s backyard. The Mount Washington Alpine Resort is a close 30-minute drive from the nearest town, Comox Valley. The five chairlifts and five carpet lifts take skiers to as high as 1,657 vertical feet, while cross-country skiers can explore a stretch of 55km.

Whistler Blackcomb

Some of North America’s top-rated slopes are found close to Vancouver around Whistler. Celebrities, including Prince Charles and his sons, have been spotted zipping down the trails of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. A two-hour drive from Downtown Vancouver will take you straight to the lifts.

Stretching more than 8,000 acres, the two mountains together offer skiers 200-plus trails. Whistler Village itself is a quaint little ski town, with a number of fine dining restaurants serving coastal cuisine.

Lake Louise

A little further away from where the couple currently calls home, Lake Louise is one of the most scenic spots along the Canadian Rockies. Located in the province of Alberta, it was named the top Canadian ski resort at the 2017 World Ski Awards. The Lake Louise Ski Resort offers 145 runs on its four mountain faces, all situated in the middle of Unesco World Heritage Site, Banff National Park.
