Another week, another prestigious honour for the Okanagan’s largest ski resort.

On Saturday, local chalet “Crescendo” took home the award for Canada’s Best Ski Chalet at the annual World Ski Awards in Kitzbühel, Austria.

The 5,200 square foot chalet features five bedrooms, five bathrooms and a rec room, all while being perched smack on the corner of the popular Woodcutter and Happy Valley Way ski runs.

Upon learning the news, Crescendo owner Mitch Perlman admitted he became teary-eyed.

“Not because the award is such an honour, which of course it is, but because of how honoured I felt that my guests – those who’ve stayed at Crescendo and who love Crescendo as much as I do – made this happen: first by nominating Crescendo for the award, and then by casting their votes," said Perlam.

"In total, over 1.6 million votes were cast, so being the 2019 winner was no small feat and a testament to the loyalty of Crescendo’s discriminating fans.”

Winning the award was no easy task as Crescendo faced stiff competition from premiere chalets at Whistler and Revelstoke ski resort.

As for the rest of the resort, Big White will open, albeit in a limited capacity, this Thursday, Nov. 28.
