Meet the winner
With the launch of the Southern Hemisphere’s first Alpine Coaster, Australia’s biggest winter events and experiences calendar and Australia’s best skiing and snowboarding, winter 2024 is already shaping up to be Thredbo’s biggest and best winter yet.
Opening Weekend celebrations were a big hit with first rides on the new Alpine Coaster, the first days of skiing and snowboarding and a massive lineup of live music, entertainment, free kids’ activities and more.
Throughout June, multiple snowfalls and a consistent run of ideal snowmaking conditions enabled Thredbo to build a strong base and continually open more terrain. Now, skiers and snowboarders have once again descended on the resort to enjoy riding Australia’s steepest and longest runs – almost double the amount of vertical terrain than any other Australian resort.
Boasting a huge variety of snow terrain for all ages and abilities including a dedicated beginner area, a massive range of snowsport lessons led by expert instructors and high-quality equipment rental, Thredbo is the ultimate place to learn to ski or snowboard.
An exciting new feature for terrain park enthusiasts this winter, Thredbo has teamed up with new ambassador Scotty James to unveil a new 13ft Mini Pipe in the Cruiser area.
For the pros, Thredbo is proud to be building Australia’s first-ever 22ft winter halfpipe for Olympic training during the Southern Hemisphere’s winter snow season. This new halfpipe is one element of a world-class training facility Thredbo is creating to support athlete development ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
New this winter, the Thredbo Alpine Coaster offers an all-weather, action-packed way to experience the mountain. Open 365 days a year, passengers can control their speed while riding through 1.5 kilometres of stunning mountain views.
With its vibrant European-style village, one thing that really puts Thredbo in a league of its own is the winter events and entertainment calendar, offering Australia’s biggest lineup of festival-style après events, weekly fireworks and flare runs, kids snow festivals, skiing and snowboarding events and more.
Whether it’s scoring fresh lines and breathtaking views on a backcountry tour, watching sunrise over the mountains and getting first tracks on a Sunrise Session or riding a snowcat to a 4-course dining experience on a Kareela Snowcat Dinner, Thredbo’s range of Alpine Experiences are the ultimate way to take a winter visit to new heights.
Thredbo makes significant yearly developments to ensure every winter is better than the last and 2024 was no different, launching the new Alpine Coaster, unveiling new events, adding to the significant snowmaking fleet, investing in new machinery and more.
Thredbo… It’s the place to be this winter!
